Following the recent revelations about our food being adulterated with other substances we would like to bring to your attention the food practice of the Butcher of Brogdale.

‘The Butcher of Brogdale provide traditionally reared meat supplied by local Farms to their stores in Faversham, Ashford, Gillingham and Food Hall Canterbury.

Mr L Moore and his business partner take pride and believe that it is fundamental good practice that their meat is raised in the traditional manner.

The Butchers of Brogdale are proud to announce that they are one of the first butchers to achieve the Food for Life Catering Mark launched by the Soil Association.

Lee, Master Butcher said “that by gaining this Catering Mark enables our customers to be confident in the provenance, source, food safety and quality of our meat.”  

The Soil Association has launched a Catering Mark Supplier Scheme aimed at providing assurance on food health, animal welfare and the environment.  

To help them meet the requirements of the Catering Mark standards, caterers need suppliers who can deliver products that can satisfy a variety of accreditations required at the bronze, silver and gold levels of the Catering Mark.

The Soil Association are already well known in the catering sector with over 600,000 Catering Mark meals served daily in schools, hospitals, universities, nurseries and staff restaurants. These include products which are: Red Tractor; Freedom Food; MSC; organic; Fair-trade; non-GM; LEAF; free range; free from trans fats and additives.

To join the scheme, suppliers must be able to demonstrate that they have read and understood the Catering Mark Standards; that they can provide products which meet one or more of the standards; that they can support customers with their supply chain, and provide relevant information for their inspections.


Brogdale Collections Apple Festival 2014

Following the recent Apple festival at The Brogdale Collections site in Faversham, The Butcher of Brogdale involved there shop and staff with regular sausage making demonstrations throughout the weekend event.

The family weekend out was a great success and look forward to the next event in 2015

Butchery course bookings were offered over the weekend event.
